It’s not how you feel, but how you function
In today’s society it is hard to balance work, family, and social obligations while maintaining health. We are so busy picking up the kids from school, cleaning the house, and running errands we barely have time to eat. The obstacles and stressors that arise from our fast-paced lives cause people to forget how good our bodies can and should feel. How we feel plays a part in our health, but it is not the sole factor in determining if we are healthy. The World Health Organization's (WHO's) definition of health states that health is “[a] state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease.” For that exact reason when we examine our health we need to take into account every aspect of our life.
The human body is an incredible machine; it is made to move and be cared for. Without movement and maintenance, the integrity of the body, like a car, can begin to break down or degenerate. At first, we may not realize the breakdown that is taking place, it can sometimes take years for people to experience symptoms of poor health. As we grow older, people have the tendency to become less active, and in many cases this causes any aches and pains to become more pronounced. The smallest change in your day-to-day activity can make a difference in both your physical and mental health. Positive daily modifications such as drinking more water, eating more vegetables, and walking for 30 minutes, can improve your health. Remember, take care of yourself. Your health and body are of infinite worth.
Chiropractic can benefit every single body, from newborns to those in their golden years. Focusing on the root cause of your health problems by looking at structural misalignments in the spine may be the answer you have been waiting for. The structure of the spine has a direct impact on the function of the body, specifically the nervous system. By removing structural shifts, or structural misalignments, in the spine we can improve nervous system function and reduce secondary conditions (symptoms). An analogy for this would be improving cell phone service from one mobile phone to another, allowing for clearer communication. Similarly, removing the interference in the nerve system by correcting structural shifts in the spine allows the brain and body to communicate properly. Improved communication allows the body to function at its highest levels and promotes optimal health.
“The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease,” Thomas Edison.
